Service Description
This presentation will provide an overview of criminal crash investigation to give the audience a better understanding of what crash reconstruction is and the limitations. We will discuss different aspects of evidence collection needed for a thorough crash investigation that will result in criminal charges. The audience will have a better understanding of what roadway evidence to look for, photography of vehicles to show important damage and what evidence must be preserved. Actual case studies will be presented to show how vehicle homicide cases were resolved and discuss mistakes that can be made. The most current tools and techniques to process scenes will be discussed along with the evidentiary data that can be collected from vehicles and how it is used. Specific tools covered and their use in crash reconstruction include Berla infotainment center data, Bosch airbag control module or front camera crash data, 3D laser scans/point clouds, cell phone data, and drones. Overall, this presentation will emphasized accuracy, objectivity, and the importance of preserving evidence to reliably reconstruct the sequence of events for serious crashes that may result in homicide charges.
